After signing, in 2014, United Nations Global Compact, Limak Group of Companies that carried its commitments for social responsibilities to an international dimension and corporate social responsibility strategy of Limak Cement Group that is a member of Limak Group of Companies aims to create innovative and sustainable business models in fields and industries where it runs its operations in order to enhance welfare of the community and to assure economic, cultural, social and environmental sustainability of the development.
Limak Group of Companies also put into practice the SDG Impact Accelerator (Sustainable Development Goals Imapct Accelerator) Project in 2018 in cooperation with Republic of Turkey Minsitry of Foreign Affairs, UNDP Turkey Office, United Nations World Food Program (WFP) as well as Melinda & Bill Gates foundation.
Limak Cement Group, as a company with multiple businesses and local and global presence in many countries, accepts a stakeholder participation oriented KSS strategy and relevant policies as an important first step.
CREATING SOCIAL VALUE
The Group, within scope of needs and expectations of the local people living in areas where its facilities are located, focuses on education, infrastructure and healthcare services and carries out practices aimed at improving the quality of life of the local people.
Limak Cement Group maintains and expands its efforts and initiatives intended to help those communities where it has its operations to develop. As Limak Cement Group grows, it makes a contribution to the development of the community and tries to increase the societal welfare.
In line with Clean Water and Sanitation, one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-6), in 2021, Limak Cement Group, at its Mozambique and Ivory Coast plants, on the World Water Day, organized informative activities regarding efficient use of water during the pandemic and importance of the water, and at Attinguie Primary School of Ivory Coast, students were taught appropriate hand cleaning methods and mobile toilets were donated.
Also, within scope of SDG.3 Healthy Individuals, one of the Sustainable Development Goals, Limak Mozambique Cement donated 50 beds to a 250-bed hospital built in Maputo region due to Covid-19 outbreak.
