The first investment abroad made by the group produces two types of cement;

  • CEM II/A-V 42,5 N
  • CEM IV/B (V) 32,5 N

The plant built in Matola port area in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, on a 80.000 m² land, started its sales in the final quarter of 2016 and, the plant was built and runs its operations in full compliance with norms of the World Bank in fields of environment, human resources and social responsibility in line with the group's sustainability goals. 

Although Limak Cimentos SA runs its operations with a cement production capacity of 700.000 tons/year, it was designed, during the project and design phase, to be expandable up to a capacity of 1,500,000 tons/year. As a matter of fact, in this country that is one of the entrance gates of East Africa that is home to important natural gas and coal reserves of the world, there are some mid- and long-term investment plans for increasing the existing plant's grinding capacity, establishment of solar power plant, concrete facilities, construction materials and integrated cement plant.

Limak Cimentos SA exhibits a trend that increases its brand value day by day and and, in parallel to this, it has also increased its market share in 2020. Thus, thanks to the success it has achieved in terms of product and service, it has become the second largest player of the domestic market.

Limak Cimentos SA which obtained the country's first local product certificate in 2018 has the “Made in Mozambique” certificate, of the nation's prestigious quality indicators, and it is intended to kick off the efforts for obtaining ISO 9001 Quality Management System certificate from Mozambique National Standardization and Quality Institute (INNOQ) and to obtain the said certificate in 2021. 

The plant, thanks to its strategic location nearby the ports area, makes a contribution to the development of trade between Mozambique – Turkey and, further, makes a contribution to development of the region's construction industry with the fully equipped cement R&D laboratory.

As a result of commercial operations conducted, the company was offered a seat in the management of Mozambique Chamber of Commerce in 2020.

Limak Cimentos SA which was given the Best Industrial Investment Made in Mozambique Award carried out forestation and organized social events across the plant on June 5th World Environment Day.
