Limak Cement continues its investments in Africa...

In the last quarter of 2018, Limak Afrika S.A. was commissioned with a capacity of 1,000,000 tons of cement and 1,000,000m3 of ready mixed concrete.

Limak Afrika SA increased its domestic market share.

Increasing its domestic market share compared to 2020, Limak Afrika S.A. has strengthened its power in the market with the ready-mixed concrete facility becoming operational, and has become one of the leading players in the sector with the trend it has caught in sales.

It is at top 10 in the most eco-friendly companies ranking

In the competition held among industrial enterprises in 2019, Limak Afrika S.A. found its place in the most eco-friendly companies ranking as the only cement producer.

The Turkish-Ivorian friendship fresco was inaugurated.

On December 3, 2018, a fig tree themed “Turkish-Ivorian Friendship Fresco ” made of shin tiles was built in the international flights section of Abidjan Felix Houphouet-Boigny Airport.
The ceremony, inaugurated by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Abidjan, Esra Demir, was attended by Ivory Coast President Advisor Drissa Kone, Morocco, Algeria and Palestine Ambassadors, General Manager of Limak Afrika S.A., M. Erkam Kocakerim, General Manager of Turkish Airlines Abidjan, İbrahim Orhanlı, and many other guests.

Ivory Coast that accounts for 40% of the GDP of West Africa Economic and Monetary Union owing to its rich natural resources and foreign investments is one of 14 Sub-Saharan Countries that do not have the status of the “Least developed Country.” 

Given its commercial potential and cement need of the country, following the comprehensive feasibility studies conducted, Limak Ivory Coast Cement project of which investment was started in 2015 was managed by Limak Cement Group's own team qualified and experienced in this subject matter. Ivory Coast Grinding – Packaging plant, with a production capacity of 1 million tons of cement and 1 million m³ ready mixed concrete, that cost about €65 million is the fourth plant investment founded by Limak Cement Group with its own human resources. 

Two types of cement and ready mixed concrete are produced at the plant, built on an area of 131.290 m², in Abidjan, the largest city and the economic capital of Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast grinding-packaging plant and ready mixed concrete facility was commissioned in December 2018 in full compliance with the World Bank, ILO and Equator Principles. 

The plant making use of modern technologies with a compact appearance continues its operations with the market share acquired by it in both cement and ready mixed concrete fields and positive consumer feedback even though it has been a very short time since its commissioning. Market share for domestic sales increased when compared to the preceding year.

Under the protocol made with CODINORM, the country's product quality certification agency, product certification process was completed in the first quarter of 2019 and cement product quality certificates were obtained.

The plant, thanks to its strategic location nearby the ports area, makes a contribution to the development of trade between Ivory Coast – Turkey and, further, makes a contribution to development of the region's construction industry with the fully equipped cement and ready mixed concrete R&D laboratory.

Limak Afrika SA made a contribution to activities conducted as part of fight with Covid-19 through Ivory Coast Association of Cement Producers of which we are a member.
