Ergani Cement Plant was founded in Ergani district of the province of Diyarbakır with a view to making a contribution to the national economy within scope of GAP project. The plant whose foundations were laid in 1976 was put into operation and started production in July 1984 and carried out its first cement sale.
While Ergani Cement Plant was a state-owned institution, it was privatized in 1997, then, the plant was put up for sale by TMSF (Saving Deposit Insurance Fund) and was acquired by Limak Madencilik Yapı Çimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. as a result of the tender made in January 2006 and the plant joined Limak Cement Group. After acquisition of the plant, the plant adopted a new face and modern look thanks to environmental investments made on one side, and, due to investments for additional capacity, clinker production went up to 793,000 tons/year and cement production increased to 1,400,000 tons/year, on the other side.Three different types of products are produced at the plant in compliance with the international standards. These are;

- CEM II/A-LL 42,5 R
- CEM II/B-LL 32,5 R
2020 yılında satışı gerçekleştirilen çimento tipleri içinde, katkılı tip çimento satış oranında yüzde 69,39 seviyesine ulaşılmıştır. Üretim aşamasında açığa çıkan toz ve gaz salınımları limit değerlerin önemli ölçüde altında kalarak fabrikanın çevreye olan hassasiyetini ön plana çıkarmaktadır.
Fabrikanın tüm ünitelerinde, toz emisyonlarını azaltmaya yönelik tozsuzlaştırma filtreleri mevcuttur. Fabrika içerisinde muhtelif 2.200 metrekarelik alan yıl içerisinde betonlanarak fabrika çok daha temiz bir görünüme kavuşturulmuştur.
11.11.2019 tarihinde tüm ülke genelinde başlatılan “Geleceğe Nefes” kampanyasına 11.11.2020 tarihinde de devam edilerek fabrikanın muhtelif sahalarında 500 adet ağaç dikimi gerçekleştirildi. 2020 yılı yeşillendirme çalışmaları kapsamında ise 500 adet süs bitkisi dikilirken, bununla beraber 1.000 metrekarelik alan çimlendirildi.
Limak Ergani Çimento, atık yönetimine vermiş olduğu önem ve doğru atık yönetimi uygulamaları sonucunda T.C. Çevre ve Şehircilik Bakanlığı tarafından “Temel Seviye Sıfır Atık Belgesi” almaya hak kazanmıştır.
2021 yılında TS EN ISO 45001 “İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği Yönetim Sistemi” ve TS EN ISO 50001 “Enerji Yönetim Sistemi”ne geçilmiştir.
At Limak Ergani Cement, training activities were conducted, in 2020, with regards to professional, technical and administrative matters such as occupational safety, environment, energy efficiency. Time of trainings provided in this scope is 32 man/hour. According to the Environment Permit dated 23.08.2013, obtained as a result of legal and social responsibility and environmental sensitivity, Air Emissions and Waste Water Discharge are carried out at legal limit values. Since Ergani Cement Plant joined Limak Cement Group, some important steps were taken with regards to environment, and 17,842 trees were planted so far, and an investment was made in 2011 for filter with bag. The said investment did not create a capacity increase effect for the plant, yet the existing electro filter system was abolished and technology of the plant was rendered compliant with prevailing conditions owing to the filter system with bag with a cost of € 2,000,000, taking into account the value ascribed to the Environment and Human Health.
Another approach of Limak Ergani Cement that can be considered within scope of environmental sensitivity and social responsibility is forestation and greening efforts that have been going on ever since acquisition by Limak Group. As of July 2021, total number of trees reached 20,134 and the total green area reached 17,250 sqm.
